BROARdeck

A stream deck
you build yourself.

Media controls, weather, a soundboard and your own hotkeys — on a small touchscreen on your desk, driven from Windows.

What it does

Whatever's playing

Track, artist and cover art, with transport controls and volume under your finger. Spotify, YouTube Music, Plexamp — anything Windows knows about.

Your own keys

Pages of buttons that send hotkeys, switch OBS scenes, mute Discord, fire a soundboard or drive Home Assistant. Hold for a second action.

BROARchat, under your thumb

Pair with the BROARchat desktop app once and the deck mutes, deafens, talks, shares, joins voice and fires the call's soundboard — with unread and mention counts on a key.

At a glance

Clock, weather and system load. It dims when you walk away and wakes when you touch it.

What you need

An ESP32-2432S028R — the board usually sold as a “Cheap Yellow Display”. A 2.8 inch touchscreen with an ESP32 behind it, around fifteen pounds. Plus a USB data cable and a Windows PC on the same network.

Getting started

  1. Install BROARdeck and open it.
  2. Plug the board in. A data cable — a charge-only one powers it without ever appearing.
  3. Open “New device”, pick the port, write the firmware. No toolchain, no Python, no drivers to hunt down.
  4. Choose your WiFi on the deck's own screen. It finds your PC by itself; there is no address to type.

Updates

BROARdeck checks here and tells you when there is a new version. Nothing downloads or installs on its own — you decide when.
